The tzatziki sauce is the perfect accompaniment to many Egyptian dishes such as grape leaves, cold lamb, grilled meat. It would be great as a sandwich spread or as a dip with your favorite vegetables. We enjoy the fresh, kicking taste from three simple ingredients. So you can go for this recipe if you prefer less garlicky tzatziki sauce or if you are in a hurry.
1cucumber, partially peeled (striped) and cut in cubes
1garlic clove, peeled, finely grated or minced
Mint for garnish
Cucumber slices for garnish
In one large mixing bowl, place the garlic with yogurt. Mix to combine.
Add the grated cucumber to the large bowl and combine. Cover tightly and refrigerate for a couple of hours.
When ready to serve, stir the tzatziki sauce to refresh. Transfer to a serving bowl, and garnish with mint and cucumber slices if you desire.
Cover tzatziki sauce tightly and refrigerate for a couple of hours before use for better consistency.
