Remember when we all said no to socks and birks? then we all agreed that it looks appealing, then we all started to wear it? Sometimes it take us more consideration time and inspirational editorials, women, to see what we never saw in the back of our minds, that’s what happened to some of us, me included…
I never thought that wearing sandals and socks will be good for anyone, until I saw it on runways seasons ago and still to this season (think Prada, Sonia Rykiel SS15) then streets and now it’s blowing my head that I want to wear socks with everything I have. It takes the whole outfit and the shoes to another dimension.
I only was wearing socks with Blucher, loafers and sneakers because men evoked me to do so, stylish men that I used to see on The Sartorialist, fully suited Italian men with polished shoes and BAM here’s a colorful blocking socks showing while walking, it was like magic for me cause I really never saw that in my real life. My dad’s wardrobe was only about navy, black and grays and brown socks, until one day I grabbed him with me in a shopping day, then while we were entering from the men section of the shop, he saw a magenta socks he fell in love with it, and just like that, he bought it. That was a highlight moment for me in my socks world.
Now after I loved it last season on slides and sandals, it’s time to admit that I need more socks in all it shapes for this transnational weather and wear it with my slides and sandals all winter long, uhh how was I that stupid!!!? that I never wore my sandals in winter, think about all the shoes I left for summer time only! stupid! there’s a lot of socks to buy right now but the more it’ll get colder the more thick my socks will be, not my shoes, because for real, I don’t think that I feel enough warm in just a leather boots.
Maybe I need to find a slingback boots to embrace the socks…
And now I’ll think more about thick Wool socks with clogs.
