I stated more than a hundred times in this space that I don’t like anything oil on my face or my hair. Not because I just hate oil, but oils never work for me. If I put it on my face my skin breaks out, if I put it on my hair, my hair feels so greasy, and I can not touch it (even if my hair is super dry). So after I followed the “oils” wave and tried my part. I left it all alone.
I never feel intrigued when someone talks about oils. But since I’m an advocate user of The Ordinary (See The Ordinary skincare routine here), I wanted to see what The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ($10) hype is all about since it is one of The ordinary best selling products. Also, because I feel like I’m missing out that luxurious feel the world putting around the word ∼facial oils∼.
I tried facial oils that address my skin issues. I want to hydrate my acne prone skin, I want it to blur my lines, I want it to boost elasticity, nourishes and fade my acne scars, is that too much to ask? Absolutely not. But let’s be reasonable. I need more than one magical bottle to give all my needs. For what I’ve heard, The Ordinary promises of solving some of these issues, so I finally gave it a try.
When I searched about the Rosehip oil benefits, I found out that it is packed with antioxidants, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, providing plumpness; stimulates the structure of collagen and elastin, which improves the visible appearance of tightness in the skin, and contains linoleic acid which may prevent acne! What!!?
When I use something new, I use it for a couple of weeks, alone after cleansing for maximum absorption and penetration. But in the normal world, where we use 3-10000 products in one set, it’s better to be used as the last step of your regimen. The oil, to begin with, doesn’t feel greasy compared to the oils I have tried before. I put three drops on my hands at night and tap my face with it. It doesn’t need that much work to make the skin absorb it. From the first time, I was impressed actually.
After the first week, I noticed some differences. How proud I’m with myself that I used oil for a full week! My skin felt hydrated, glowy, and it helped fade away acne scars. I used it on my beach days before bed, and damn, it really soothed my skin. After the second week, in the 11th day to be exact, I noticed that plumpness that people are always talking about. I also applied it under makeup and it worked really well.
The only thing I didn’t like about it is the smell. It has a wired smell that I tried to ignore while using. But since it will become stable, I will blend it with my Weleda moisturizer. Because seriously, I want to live in the Weleda bottle forever.
